SUMMARY:Qualifier for US Catan National Championships - Preliminary Round
DESCRIPTION:Game Point is once again hosting a qualifier for the US Catan National Championships.  We will be holding three preliminary rounds: \n\n– Tuesday\, January 22\, 6:30 pm\n– Tuesday\, January 29\, 6:30 pm\n– Sunday\, February 17\, 5:30 pm\n\nYou can play in one\, two or all three preliminary rounds – the 16 highest scoring players will be invited back to Game Point on February 19th for the semi-finals and final games. Top scoring players will receive Catan promotional materials and the winner of each preliminary tourney will receive a $25 Game Point Gift Card for future visits. \nThe overall winner on the 19th will win admission to the Origins Game Fair in Columbus\, OH\, June 12-16\, 2019 and a guaranteed seat at the 2019 Catan US Nationals Tournament. The Game Point winner will also join the other Qualifier Champions and Catan Studio for a celebratory dinner on Saturday night of Origins. (The Catan US National Champion will move on to the 2020 Catan World Championship\, location and dates to be announced at a later date.) \nWe will start registration at 6 pm and the games will begin at 6:30 pm. Each preliminary round will consist of three games of Catan. Each participant is asked to spend a minimum of $10 in food and drink during the course of the event. You can reserve your spot below (or sign up for the wait list if all spots are full – we were able to accommodate a good deal of players from those wait lists in 2018). Good luck and game on!

In this deck-building game\, you have no hand at all; instead\, you play cards directly from the top of your deck. Winning the game requires delicate strategies…and some luck as well!! \nA turn consists of two phases: card playing and building. \nPlayers play cards directly from the top of their deck and may choose to continue unless they have three cry-face icons in play\, which ends their turn immediately. When they choose to stop\, they move to the building phase. \nDuring the building phase\, a player can use the coins gained from their previously played cards to buy a new card or to upgrade a card in their personal discard pile. To upgrade a card\, pay the cost and flip it over; upgraded cards remain in the discard pile. \nSince all cards in this game are double-sided\, be careful not to flip them over accidentally when placing cards into your discard pile or when shuffling your deck. \nWhenever a player gains eight or more VP during a single card playing phase\, the player wins immediately! \n\n\n\nDemos of the game will be available starting at 4:30 pm and can accommodate two to four players.  Come check it out!

SUMMARY:Keyforge Organized Play (Sealed)
DESCRIPTION:All Keyforge events at Game Point are now official Chainbound Events.  What does that mean?  It means that we will register each deck before play begins.  The results of the tournament are reported back to the Fantasy Flight servers and decks are handicapped based on how well they have done.  In essence\, this helps to create a fluid meta around the game.  So you’ll want to have downloaded the Keyforge app and have set up your personal account on the app before the tournament begins. \nOur Keyforge event for the month will be a sealed event (pending product arrival – stay tuned for changes).  Each participant will be required to purchase a deck for the evening’s tournament and will use that deck for the duration of the event.  We also ask that players spend $5 in food or drink while playing as well.  Winners will get some promotional Keyforge materials and the champ for the night will also win a Game Point Gift Card (value based on number of players).  We will start taking signups at 6:30 pm and aim to start at 7 pm.  Come on out and forge some keys!

DESCRIPTION:Come out to Game Point for a Draft and a Draft.  We start off with a Magic the Gathering booster draft\, then add on to that a beer from one of the many craft beers we have on tap (or a Kombucha or Nitro Coffee or . . . we have options).  Top that off with three rounds of Swiss with the deck you drafted\, each win getting you a bonus pack.  It all adds up to a fun\, fun night.  $20 (tax incl.) gets you the cards for the draft\, any prize packs\, and a draft beer. \nWe aim to get started between 6:30 and 7:00\, but come out a little early for casual pick up games while you wait!
