Magic Monday – Pack Wars

A fifth Monday in August calls for us to roll out something special.  That something?  Pack Wars!

Here’s how it will work.  Each player will be given a sealed booster pack and 10 lands (two of each color).  You open the pack, removed the token card and shuffle up the pack and lands without looking at the cards (you can bring sleeves for the deck if you want to sleeve them).  You then play a 2 out of 3 match of Magic with your 25 card decks with the following rule additions:

– Each player will start with 15 life.

– Once per game a player can elect at the end of their turn to shuffle their graveyard into their library.

• – A player may play any basic land in their hand face down as a “City of Brass” – a land that taps to produce any color of mana and damages you for one point.

After the match, losing players can look at their deck and opt for a second pack, forfeiting their first.  Winning players don’t get to look and just shuffle back up for match two.  Whoever has the best record at the end of three rounds will get all the forfeited decks, or a $10 Game Point Gift Card if no one opts for the redo (multiple best records? we’ll cut down for a single elimination).  Buy in for the night will be $10 and include your first drink.  We’ll start gathering at 6 pm and start promptly at 6:30 pm.
